Applied Alexander® for Dancers – Dance without Limits
Hello my friends,
It’s been a long time coming…. and it’s finally here.
Applied Alexander Technique® for Dancers – Dance Without Limits. It’s a totally new website and I’m excited to share it with you! In celebration, I made an offer of one free Alexander lesson to each of the first 10 dancers to contact me and ask.
One of the dancers who took me up on a free lesson was here today. In the middle of her lesson, she asked a very intelligent question about how to move her shoulders without neck tension.
It tied into her lesson, which began with releasing tension from her back and neck and connecting that with movement of the legs.
I helped her move her shoulders and arms without neck tension or contraction. I showed her the first steps to releasing tension from her neck and connecting her arm movement more from her back. She could feel the difference –
I often think of my arms as expanding out from my back, like wings of a big, graceful bird. It’s not enough to be aware of the connection. It matters how they connect. I want my wings to be like an eagle…expansive…wide…open and free. I love the feeling of my arms stretching away separately from my back and legs, the freedom it brings to move in different ways.
How would you like your arms to be? What would dancing be like if you could be more free?
I love helping dancers find freedom to move and there are three places left for a free Alexander lesson. Contact me!
